Across the country, millions of families struggle daily with behavioral, physical, and mental health issues with their children and family members. Over 30% of young couples are bereft because they cannot conceive. One out of two men and one out of two women are expected to get cancer. One in three Americans have fatty liver disorders. I could list the deeply disturbing statistics for days...but you don’t have to look any further, really, than your family members. Every family in America is impacted today by cancer, heart disease, autism, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, IBS, Crohn’s disease, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, obesity, or reproductive and mental health issues. We are in a health crisis. What do all these conditions have in common?
They can all be caused and exacerbated by agrochemicals in the conventional food supply.
The parents who have figured this out and feed their children organic, as featured in numerous books and films such as Jeffery Smith and Amy Hart’s movie Secret Ingredients, see the recovery within days, weeks, or months.
The answer to our health crisis is organic food, food grown without genetically modified organisms, harmful pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, and with careful attention to the integrity of the growing process. Ideally, organic food is also grown regeneratively, with cover crops and animals grazing, to build organic matter in the soil and increase nutrient density. Also, ideally, farmers would test their fertilizer sources for heavy metals and monitor these toxins.
The results mean life-changing relationships, learning, behavioral and reproductive changes in our families. Our sons with autism start to speak and say “I love you” to their mothers and fathers for the first time. Our daughters struggling with fertility can conceive, and a grand-baby that lights up our world can exist. Our sisters and brothers struggling with heart disease and cancer often see incredible improvements and live a life of love and happiness for a decade beyond their prognosis. Time with our loved ones is priceless. We cannot proclaim a particular value as the result of an organic farmer or food producer. Your work is invaluable.
Moms Across America beseeches organic growers and food manufacturers to continue and expand their essential work. Lives depend on your dedication despite the long and seemingly thankless hours. Due to the toxins in the food supply, most of our children have leaky guts and chemical sensitivities.
Some examples of our recent food testing show why transforming the food supply and increasing access to organic, nutrient-dense food is so important.
MAA summary of the testing of 43 school lunches and 42 fast food samples:
- 93% and 100% of the school lunch and fast food samples ( 40+) tested positive for glyphosate herbicide, respectively.
- 74-76% were positive for at least 1 of up to 29 different harmful pesticides.
- 40-60% of the samples contained antibiotics, anti-parasitics, and veterinary drugs, including an aviary contraceptive in a Chick-fil-A sandwich and four school lunch samples.
- 47% of the fast food samples contained a central nervous system depressant called Butanediol, which causes combativeness. Fast food companies are major suppliers of school meals.
- 100% of the samples had insufficient vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin B, essential for prefrontal cortex function and decision-making that reduces violence.
The results of testing of 40 baby formula samples for heavy metals revealed:
- 100% of the samples were positive for heavy metals, lead, and cadmium.
- 80% of the samples had levels of lead higher than FDA limits in drinking water
- One sample, in a goat milk baby formula, had aluminum levels of 41,000 ppb, which exceeded EU and CA EPA safety limits.
Our country is in a health and economic crisis due to the impact of industrial agriculture, and our bodies need us to stop the onslaught of the toxic burden.
Regarding organic and regenerative organic food: If you grow it, we will buy it.
Not only because we want safe and healthy food for our families or to support locally grown food in the USA, but because we see the future of our great country both with and without toxic agrochemicals and choose a thriving future without them. Farmers have farmed for thousands of generations without GMOs and poisonous chemicals and with dedication, love, and integrity. We feel that organic farmers are ingenious and can continue to support a thriving future.
